The Throw

Acedia is a series of paintings centred on the rituals and familiar landscapes of the summer. Barbecues, neatly cut lawns, suburban streets, gardens, and long afternoons are rendered in a bright, sun washed palette that captures the stillness and intensity of the season. The works linger on ordinary moments that feel both nostalgic and suspended, inviting the viewer to spend time with scenes that reveal new emotional textures the longer they are observed.

My work is rooted in the legacy of Impressionism and Fauvism. I'm not interested in depicting a scene faithfully - I want to capture a feeling. Texture and brushwork carry a lot of that meaning for me: they let you trace the movement of thought, the moment the hand followed the mind.
